2008 VINTAGE MINI MOD RULES

 

BODY REQUIREMENTS


1. There will be no special class, cars and trucks will run under the same rules

2. 1928-1948 body styles only coupe, sedans or pickup truck must have been a production model. All frames and roll cages, including firewall, doors, and rear section framing, must be fabricated as a single unit frame following actual contour and dimensions off the finished body. Must be replica of factory stock body. No body shall be over 40" tall from bottom of outer edge to extreme top, including the frame rail. No body shall be over 48" tall from ground up to extreme top. Loaded or unloaded, with or without driver, the car must be within these measurements at all times No body prior to 1938 shall exceed 36" in width. No body 1939 or later shall exceed 38" in width, measured at the widest point, usually the rear doorpost. Modifieds 1000cc class is the only class permitted to run the wings and they must not be at angle greater than 25 degrees and the rear edge must not extend past the center line of the rearend. Roof slope must not be greater than 4 degrees.

3. You must supply to the tech director an approved diagram or photograph of your car if you are questioned. Roof slope maximum of 4 degrees. Enter and exit by door only. American passenger cars and trucks only.

4. All tubing must have a minimum of .065 wall thickness. No aluminum frames or roll cages. Firewalls mandatory between trunk area and engine compartment.

5. You may run a Legend car as long as the motor meets the vintage mini mod specs and seat is in right position, per seat setback requirements : the top of the drivers seat must be no more than 63 inches back from the front axle line, but may be less if desired. All cars will have a permanent structure bar located no more than 63 inches back from the front axle line and 22 ∏ inches high from the bottom of the frame rail. No aluminum spindles, must be steel early type.

6. No fenders (front or rear). No sheet metal or panels of any kind forward of the cowl, except the hood and grill.

7. Right and left door must be operational and allow passage. Right and left door may be shorten the maximum of 4 inches from the bottom, to allow for exhaust or nerf bar clearance.

8. Any suspension mounts must be shielded from the driver compartment. Right and left door must have a minimum of four bars .065 x .750 OD tubing. The bar supporting the drive shaft tunnel may count as one of these bars.

9. Door opening must have supports welded to the inside of the front and rear door post. Door stops minimum 3/16 x 2 x 3.

10. Front frame loop may be installed but cannot be any higher than where it exits to cowl to front of frame, including shock mounts or any other suspension parts.

11. Radiator must be mounted in front of motor.

12. All door latches must be positive locking.

13. Hood must be fasten securely by spring latch, bolt, or dzus fasteners.

14. No glass of any kind. A ∏ inch square mess wind screen is required in place of windshield.

 


FRAME AND ROLL CAGE REQUIREMENTS

15. Frame rails must be constructed of 1 x 2 x .120 rectangular tubing only. This is from extreme front to extreme rear. Frame rails will be placed with the 2 inch side vertically and the 1 inch side horizontal for their entire length.

There will be a minimum of 3 cross members in the manned compartment, one at the far end, one at the rear, one near the center. The cross members will be made of steel only with a minimum thickness of .120.

 


NERF BAR REQUIREMENTS

16. Short nerf bars are required. Long nerf bars a oppositional. Must be three point mounted. Must be made of 1 x .065 mild steel tube. No portion of nerf bars may extend wider than rear tires.


 

FRONT AND REAR BUMPER REQUIREMENTS

17. Front bumper may be minimum 24 inches to maximum 30 inches wide, no less than 6 inches high and will not extend more than 6 inches forward of front tires. Maximum height 16 inches.

18. Rear bumper must be no wider than 50 inches and minimum of 48 inches. Same material 1 x .065 and will not exceed 6 inches from extreme rear body panel.

 
SUSPENSION REQUIREMENTS

19. Spindles, hubs, A-arms and rotor must be made of steel. No sway / anti-roll bars. Front suspension must not exceed tire height or extend rearward past the most forward panel of the fire wall, except under frame rail. No rear suspension shall be mounted or extended outside the cars natural body line, except through rear wheel opening. Single pan hard bar is allowed, no watts link or Jacobs ladder. No flexible or rubber cushion trailing arms on car in rear suspension. Solid mounting only.

20. No torsion bars allowed, front or rear.

21. No driver adjustable mechanism in cockpit area or within reach of driver. No electric, hydraulic, air or ratchet type of weight jacks allowed.

 


SHOCK REQUIREMENTS

22. Automotive type steel bodied shocks (non rebuildable) hydraulic or gas shocks only. Any shock may be claimed for $35.00. The claim does not include springs or coil over kits. One shock per wheel.

23. Coil over suspension. No fifth coils.

 


ENGINE REQUIREMENTS

24. There is no protesting in these classes , engine claim only.


We will have engine claim in all classes.
600cc class can be claimed for 650.00
750cc class can be claimed for 450.00
Mod class can be claimed for 850.00

The claim includes motor, carbs , any ignition that is inside covers , nothing can
be taken off of motor except header, driveshaft adapter ,oil cooler stays with
the car, motor is unbolted and unplugged and removed. There will be no engine
swap.

Once claim has been made the claimee will be ask if the motor is legal. If the
motor is legal the compression will be checked and it must be within the
manufactures specs. If claim is refused the claimee and the car will be out for two
consecutive weeks of racing excluding rain outs or any other type of delay. If
claim is refused the second time claimee and the car will be barred from competition for
rest of season. Any driver can only be claimed twice during the current season
and only once by the same person. The winner is the only one that can be claimed
and you must finish in the top three positions to claim and be on the same lap.
Claim must be done no later than :10 after feature event. Cash only no checks.
50.00 of the claim price will go to the track if the claim is accepted, if the claim is not accepted no money goes to the track.

 

25.Four cycle and four cylinder inline motorcycle motors only, with a production of 500 or more. Serial numbers must be unmarred and on the motor, any tampering will render engine illegal.

 


HEADER AND MUFFLER REQUIREMENTS

26. Mufflers are required of a 95db rating.

27. Batteries must be rear mounted and securely fastened.

 


FUEL REQUIREMENTS

28. Racing fuel may be run. NO ALCOHOL.

29. Fuel cell mandatory.

 


DRIVE SYSTEM REQUIREMENT

30. Must be shaft driven to automotive type differential only. Steel drive shafts only. Drive shafts must be painted white.

31. No quick change or limited slip rear-end. No birdcage rear -end . No spools, steel or aluminum. No aluminum hubs., must be steel. Third member must be permanently locked.(welded).

 


BRAKE REQUIREMENTS

32. Must have brakes operating both rear wheels. Front brakes are optional . All brake rotors and drums must be made of steel.

 


WHEEL BASE REQUIREMENTS

33. Wheel base must be 73 inches. Maximum tolerance ∏ inch. Must be both sides long or short, (not one side long other side short).

34. Track width may not exceed 60 inches, measure from extreme outside edge of tire.(car must be able to pass through a 60 inches opening)

35. The center of the front and rear axles will be mounted in the center of the body, no offset hubs, front or rear.

 


SEAT REQUIREMENTS

36. The top of the driver seat must be no more than 63 inches back from the front axle line, but may be less if desired. All car bodies will have a permanent structure bar located no more than 63 inches back from the front axle line at 22 ∏ inches above the frame rail.

 


TIRE AND WHEEL REQUIREMENTS

37. Steel wheels only, with a wall thickness of at least .100. Wheel diameter is limited to 13 inches only, with rim width of 7 inches maximum. No bead lock or bead lock rim of any kind.

38. BF Goodrich 205/60/13, Legends Edition is the only tire permitted. 7/32 depth on the rubber and must not check lower than 60 durometer at any time. Left front tire is the only tire that can be substituted with these requirements: tread wear 400, traction A, temperature
A no depth check on the left front tire.


WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS

39. Minimum weight before and after race, 1240 lbs., with driver. The driver and the car must report to the scales immediately after the race, failure to do so will result in disqualification for the night. no one will be allowed around the car until it goes across the scales if this is violated you are disqualified. Top three must weigh after every race.

40. 70 lb. limit on ballast, must be painted white, with car number on it and bolted with ∏ inch bolts.

 


SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

41. Must have approved 5 point racing harness.

42. Approved racing type helmets.

43. Must have approved quick release steering wheel.

44. Fire extinguisher recommended.

45. No radios or listening devices of any kind permitted .

 


ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS

46. No fuel injection allowed.

47. No nitrous or fuel additives of any kind.

48. 600 cc class limited to 100 hp.

49. 750 cc class limited to 80 hp.

50. Modified class limited to 125 hp.

52. It is your responsibility to furnish the year and serial number, from your engine, to Freddie Prosser , Jr. before first night of competition. If you go through tech and the numbers do not match the numbers on your motor you are disqualified for that night of competition.

Notice: No Hi Performance parts internally or externally on the engine. All replacement parts must be of original manufacturing equipment. No titanium valves, No lightweight pistons, No shaving of the crankshaft, No decking of cylinders must be original dimensions.

 

 

 

NOTICE: If anyone at any time , (driver, crew member, anyone involved with a team) takes any kind of an aggressive or hostile approach toward any other driver or crew member or Vintage Mini Mod official whether it be physical or verbal you are disqualified for the night. Depending on severity of the incident criminal charges could apply. All points, money are forfeited you will not be scored.

NOTICE: No alcoholic beverages or consumption of during Vintage Mini Mods events.

NOTICE: Vintage Mini Mods will only run on scheduled dates at Winchester Speedway, no partial car counts on scheduled off dates.

NOTICE: There is dimensions tolerances on the wings and I will post them on the Website as soon as I can get a fair measurement for everybody.

IF YOU ARE FOUND TO BE IN VIOLATION OF ANY RULE YOU WILL BE SPOT CHECKED BY THE CLUB COMPETITION DIRECTOR AT ANY TIME OR PLACE WITHOUT NOTIFICATION ON TRACK PROPERTY. THIS IS A FAMILY ORIENTATED CLASS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY, SO CONDUCT YOURSELF ACCORDINGLY AND ENJOY or GO RACE SOMEWHERE ELSE THESE CLASSES ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR YOU !!!
